Old Soldiers...

Singalong for the Royal British Legion

Cornucopia entertained the ex-servicemen at the Lloyds branch of the Royal British Legion on Wednesday as they held their annual ex-servicemens' dinner. The trio of Richard, Jonny and Louise played some light jazz during dinner, and then encouraged some more interactive stuff after dinner with "Pack up your troubles", "Run Rabbit Run" and more old war classics. They even got up and danced. Apparently that is the highest compliment for this crowd...

GlaxoSmithKline awards

Cornucopia filled the floor for GSK awards

On Thursday, Cornucopia headed through horrendous traffic up to the Hilton Metropole, Birmingham, to entertain the crowd at the GSK awards.

We played an hour-long set to a packed dancefloor, and the crowd really appreciated us. The entire set was filmed, so hoping to receieve the DVD shortly. We were followed by the Noisettes and then Basil Isaacs.

Reading University

Cornucopia rocked St Patrick's Hall, Reading University

Cornucopia were selected as the band to play for the St Patrick's Day Ball organised by St Patrick's Hall, Reading University. We provided a 4-piece band and entertained a very appreciative crowd, starting with some Irish songs such as "Dirty Old Town" and "The Fields Of Athenry", then following on during dinner with some jazz. We performed a Bossa version of Jason Mraz's song "I'm Yours" which went down a storm. They have already asked about our availability for next year...

Strict Tempo band

Tango Tea at the Waldorf

Yesterday Cornucopia played another tea dance at the beautiful Waldorf Hotel in London. From 2-5pm we accompanied the dancers as they showed their stuff on the gorgeous Art Deco marble floor - the Quickstep, the Waltz, the Jive, the Rhumba, the Foxtrot, the Cha-Cha, the Viennese Waltz, the Samba, the Salsa and of course, the Tango. The dance instruction and partners were provided by Jenni Kravitz of Simply Dancing Partners. Cornucopia plays a mixture of traditional and modern tunes for strict tempo - much like Strictly Come Dancing, so yesterday's repertoire spanned from La Cumparsita (Tango) to Valerie (Quickstep). The next one is on 11 April - book here.

Superyacht events

Cornucopia to enter the world of luxury boats

2010 marks the entry of Cornucopia to the Superyacht world, with interest being taken from several captains and agencies around the world. Of course, we will still be performing at parties around the UK, but you just might find us popping over to Antigua or St Kitts for a few weeks to play live music on Johnny Depp's boat... watch this space. Rumour has it that Cornucopia are one of the hottest tipped bands to provide live entertainment aboard the Super Yachts. Some of these megayachts have bespoke areas for live entertainment, so there are lots of exciting possibilities for the musicians.

Cornucopia on Coke...?

Coca Cola's Christmas party was a bit of a dinosaur...

So Cornucopia rocked the Natural History Museum last night, where Coca Cola had their annual Christmas staff party. 400+ people were at the huge event in South Kensington, and some of them even sang in the middle (we had a Rockeoke set for them). The festivities finished at 1am and everyone had a great time.
