ISES event

Cornucopia headlining

Tonight sees the monthly ISES networking event for all those in the hospitality industry. This month it is being held at the Room by the River, just behind the IMAX cinema in Waterloo, and Cornucopia are providing the entertainment by way of the 6-piece band. Lots of movers and shakers in that industry will be there, so it should be a great opportunity for us to get some more contacts.

Singing Waiters...

...at a birthday party!

Well, it's been a really busy time recently, which is why I haven't updated this in a few days. Cornucopia played at a 50th birthday party on Saturday, and I organised 3 singing "waiters", all of whom are normally part of the chorus at the Royal Opera House, to perform. They went down an absolute storm. Cornucopia kept the guests dancing all night and I DJ'd until 1.30am.

Quantum of Solace preview

Cornucopia a hit!

Well, the Bond preview came and went, and Cornucopia was a big hit... Our 5 gorgeous girls looked and sounded stunning - Sarah Trigg on vocals, Gemma Buckenham on trumpet, Nicki Hutchins on alto, Louise Hayn on tenor and Rosie Nicholl on trombone. We had myself on keys and vocals, Lee Burnett on guitar, Rees Bridges on drums and Glenn Bridges on bass. We played a variety of party music, interspersed with the fabulous Bond theme tunes, such as "Nobody Does It Better", "Thunderball", "The Living Daylights", "Goldfinger" and of course "Another Way to Die", the new theme by Alicia Keys and Jack White. BGC Partners were very pleased with us, and hopefully there will be more work coming our way from that. The evening was in aid of the AHT (Animal Health Trust) and Breast Cancer Care. There was a great Daniel Craig lookalike there, as well as Jaws and Oddjob. Photos and a testimonial to come...

Cornucopia Jazz Band

...for your party, wedding or event...

Cornucopia has evolved out of several other ensembles - Melodius Thunk was a 5-piece instrumental outfit which started back in 1999, playing local venues and some private functions. Out of that came the South City Trio, which still plays a few select parties and weddings now and then, although we tend to go under the name Cornucopia these days, as it seems easier to use the one name.

As a package, we can offer either a whole evening of jazz, with myself (Richard Swan) on keys and vocals, and a bass player and saxophonist, and optionally a drummer and female vocalist. Or, more often, we offer the jazz as an extra option tagged onto the party band. For example, a client may book the 9-piece band but have the jazz trio for an hour at the Champagne Reception...

All things are possible - let us know what your requirements are...
