Tango Tea at the Waldorf

Yesterday Cornucopia played another tea dance at the beautiful Waldorf Hotel in London. From 2-5pm we accompanied the dancers as they showed their stuff on the gorgeous Art Deco marble floor - the Quickstep, the Waltz, the Jive, the Rhumba, the Foxtrot, the Cha-Cha, the Viennese Waltz, the Samba, the Salsa and of course, the Tango. The dance instruction and partners were provided by Jenni Kravitz of Simply Dancing Partners. Cornucopia plays a mixture of traditional and modern tunes for strict tempo - much like Strictly Come Dancing, so yesterday's repertoire spanned from La Cumparsita (Tango) to Valerie (Quickstep). Cornucopia to enter the world of luxury boats

2010 marks the entry of Cornucopia to the Superyacht world, with interest being taken from several captains and agencies around the world. Of course, we will still be performing at parties around the UK, but you just might find us popping over to Antigua or St Kitts for a few weeks to play live music on Johnny Depp's boat... watch this space. Rumour has it that Cornucopia are one of the hottest tipped bands to provide live entertainment aboard the Super Yachts. Some of these megayachts have bespoke areas for live entertainment, so there are lots of exciting possibilities for the musicians.

Coca Cola's Christmas party was a bit of a dinosaur...

So Cornucopia rocked the Natural History Museum last night, where Coca Cola had their annual Christmas staff party. 400+ people were at the huge event in South Kensington, and some of them even sang in the middle (we had a Rockeoke set for them). The festivities finished at 1am and everyone had a great time.

Yes - you read correctly. Cornucopia have been booked to play at this year's Christmas ball for the UK branch of one of the biggest companies in the world! We are very excited about this - it's being held in a top secret location in Central London - we could tell you but we'd have to kill you...! Pictures and hopefully video will follow after the gig.

Cornucopia hit Miami

Well, it's been an interesting couple of months. Apologies for the lack of posts, but it's been rather busy. We pitched up in Miami at the wedding of Rees Bridges (our drummer) and the lovely Kimberly Sussman (our very own Sarah Jessica Parker lookalike) where we entertained the other guests before hitting the Miami club scene. The US was amazing for me personally, and I made some amazing friends and contacts while out there, some of which will benefit Cornucopia, some of which will benefit my solo career.

Coming back to the UK - before we left, we played at a couple of weddings, the End of Major Works party for Lichfield Court in Richmond (a stunning Art Deco building), and the SMEI Charity Ball, all of which went down very well. We also managed to get a gig at the Roadhouse in Covent Garden running their Rockaoke night - more of that to come...

This Christmas season we have a couple of major worldwide company Christmas parties (but I can't tell you otherwise I'd have to kill you), plus Scotia Bank's Christmas do at the Gherkin.

We have also begun a partnership with Simply Dancing Partners who provide tuition and partners for latin and ballroom dancing. We performed our first gig at the Waldorf Tango Tea on Sunday and were well received. We have now been booked for the whole of 2010 (6 dates) starting on 21 February at 2pm. We are also performing with Simply Dancing Partners at The London Clinic's Christmas event at RIBA on 16 December.

Our next Rockeoke is at the Hootananny on 2 December - I hope to see some of you there...

Staying on top of it all...

Rockeoke. Rockaoke. Live Band Karaoke. Popeoke. Bandeoke. Abbeoke. Swingeoke. What next? Punkeoke? Gangstaoke? Rapaoke? Thrashaoke? Or we could get more specific... how about Amyeoke (for Winehouse fans), Tinaoke (Ike and Tina), Queeneoke, or Stockaoke (for Stock, Aitken and Waterman afficionados). We could have 80eoke, Chicaoke, Robbieoke, Stevieoke, Elvisaoke... or we could go for styles of dance - how about Lambadaoke, Salsaoke or even... (wait for it!)... the Hokey Cokeyaoke!

Jumping (literally) on the bandwagon just has to be done, but I'm exhausted doing it... I've been trawling the web just to find the latest trends for my industry just to stay afloat! Triumph though - just managed to buy www.rockeoke.com - nobody had snapped it up!

Cornucopia's first Wedding Fayres

Well, the last 2 Sundays saw Richard performing at Bromley Civic Centre and Dulwich College at the BestBrides Wedding shows. So far, 2 bookings from the Bromley show, with several enquiries in progress - the Dulwich one was only yesterday, so nothing yet... We will definitely be doing more of these, so watch this space.

Cornucopia play Center Parcs Longleat

On Saturday 25 July Cornucopia made their way down the A303 to Longleat to play in the Venue for the evening entertainment at Center Parcs. We went down a treat as always. Center Parcs have recently cut their entertainment budget, so we're not doing as many as usual there, but it was nice to play there again, and the audience were great as usual.

Rockaoke night

So, it's that time of the month again when Cornucopia will be rockin' Brixton at the Hootananny pub. From 9pm till the early hours you can come and be a rockstar for 5 minutes and be backed by the best band in the business (nice alliteration there!)...

Don't forget, this Live Band Karaoke is available to take to your event should you want it, or it can simply be tagged onto the evening if you book the whole band.

Wow. Just got in from playing at the above event. Beautiful things on display everywhere - shame about the torrential rain, but a successful gig. I think people liked us - we actually had 2 bands out - one playing for people outside, and one in the Gala Dining Marquee while people ate their dinner. Both bands got a lot of positive attention - if you were one of those people who enjoyed what we did, please post your comment on here...

Cornucopia went down a storm

Well, the Lord's Taverners Ball was a great success, and we packed out the dance floor with groovy chaps and chicks... It seems we hit the nail on the head with regards to the repertoire, as they booked us for next year before the weekend had finished! Here is the testimonial that I received...

"What stars you and the band were on Saturday night – it really made the evening. By popular demand, we wonder whether you be able and want to do the Ball in 2010? We are thinking of the same weekend i.e Saturday 12 June. We can move the date if you are already booked – so – no excuse!! Another satisfied customer. It's really lovely getting testimonials like that, as it makes you realise that people are really grateful. After all, it is a bit of a risk, spending large amounts of money on a group of people that you don't know... Well, there are plenty of testimonials on here so please read them if you're at all worried about whether we'll go down well or not...

I've been worried about using the title Rockaoke, as there's a band by that name, but it seems it's the name given to Live Band Karaoke anyway... sometimes spelt "Rockeoke". Cornucopia, c'est bon!

Six members of Cornucopia made their way to the South of France in Maisie, Richard's trusty minibus, for the wedding of Darrell and Samantha - it was a great occasion and the band were made to feel most welcome. The wedding took place in the Chateau de Lartigolle, a beautiful building owned by an English couple, which I can highly recommend as a place to stay, should you be in the area (www.lartigolle.com). Cornucopia rocked!

Well, following the football matches, we were extremely well-attended last night, with around 200 people singing along with us. Some fantastic performances by members of the public, so well done if you were one of them.
